UK Health Alliance on Climate Change – ThirdPress website for initiative focused on sustainability in healthcare
UK Health Alliance on Climate Change (UKHACC) coordinates action, provides leadership, and amplifies the voice of health professionals across the UK.
With a modest budget, UKHACC were looking for an affordable option for a new website and an update of their visual identity and new website. Through our ThirdPress service, we helped them to more clearly present their mission.
A perfect fit for ThirdPress
The first consideration for the project was around how to approach the development of the website. When we looked the functional requirements it became clear that UKHACC was a perfect fit with our ThirdPress service.
ThirdPress offers fully-branded customisable layouts with content and design support. It was a good fit financially too as using ThirdPress left UKHACC with budget for additional work on their visual identity and content support.
ThirdPress evolved out of the knowledge that we’ve accumulated from delivering over 100 websites over the past decade. It allows us to build accessible and flexible websites quickly and affordably. As the name suggests, it is based on WordPress, an open source and widely-used content management system.
A refreshed visual identity
To complement the ThirdPress service, we have an accompanying light-touch visual identity process which provides clients with a solid visual toolkit to apply to their website and all of their other online and offline channels.
For UKHACC, the process involved an initial workshop with key members of the team. After some exploration work, we presented three alternative identity directions that looked at logo, colour palette and typeface choices.
Once a preferred route was chosen we provided the client with a full logo suite (across both print and digital formats) and and a brand guideline document detailing usage of their new visual identity. We also supported them to identify a library of good quality images from lower-cost stock libraries.
We applied the new visual identity to the website by adding logos and photographic assets, configuring the custom fonts, and mapping their colour palette to the ThirdPress system.
Meeting the website requirements
We worked in collaboration with UKHACC to configure a website structure that supports their work in advocating for just responses to the climate and ecological crisis and promoting the health benefits that flow from them.
The website navigation includes sections on ‘Influencing policy’ and ‘Sustainable healthcare’. Section landing pages provide an overview and lower level pages are used for specific policy positions (such as sustainable diets) or particular projects (such as training health professionals to be ‘Clean Air Champions’).
Another section is organised around how UKHACC’s audience of health professionals, partners, media and policy people can get involved. This includes information about membership and a form for signing up.
ThirdPress also provides news and resource content types, both of which are used by UKHACC to create date-based listings of content that can be filtered by type and theme.
Bureau were extremely helpful in laying out the templates and guiding us through developing our website, which made the process very straightforward. From start to finish, the project ran to schedule and since we’ve launched they have been quick to respond to any questions we have. We continue to be delighted with our website and have had great feedback on it.
