Stoll – Website providing information and help for veterans seeking housing
Stoll is a charity providing affordable, high-quality housing and support services to enable vulnerable and disabled veterans to lead fulfilling, independent lives.
As they hit their centenary year, Stoll were looking for a fresh, clean website to better communicate their range of services. We also worked with them to develop a visual identity and microsite for a homelessness campaign targeted at local authorities.
Clarity around mission and approach
Stoll needed their new website to clearly present their mission, articulate the importance of housing in the support of veterans, and showcase the range of accommodation that they manage. We designed a website that gives visual prominence to many of Stoll’s tenants and space to showcase their range of locations, including the iconic Sir Oswald Stoll Mansions.
Latest news and veteran stories are featured on the home page and across the website. The ‘Support us’ section provides users with a range of options for helping Stoll financially, including taking part in one of a number of challenge events. Visitors can also donate directly via credit and debit card through the website.
Given Stoll’s target audience, clarity and accessibility were of particular importance across all aspects of the project, from messaging to design. Tenants and other website users were involved at the start of the project and throughout.
Clear information for residents
It was established during the initial discovery work that there was a requirement to provide residents with practical information about their tenancy, such as how to access important documents or how to pay their rent.
Stoll also offer residents and other veterans a range of additional services to support their health and wellbeing and provide employment training and skills. This includes social activities such as coffee mornings and fitness classes as well as dedicated educational sessions on everything from computer skills to managing money.
The new website structure was designed to provide clear and intuitive routes into this wealth of information for residents.
Visual identity for homelessness campaign
A year after the initial website launch, Stoll were involved in a campaign about homeless veterans targeted at local authorities in partnership with Cobseo and Forces in Mind Trust. We were re-engaged to develop a new visual identity and microsite for the campaign.
We developed a distinctive look and feel which makes a bold statement while balancing the brands of the three partner organisations. The microsite features key campaign messaging, news and case studies featuring veterans and local authority housing ‘heros’.
Stoll has been working with Bureau for over 8 years. They have worked with us on updating our website, providing advice and training to staff and supported our many projects over the years. They are always accessible and so helpful with all queries whether big or small.
